Five People Who Made A Difference
Doc. Series & Series of Special
Synopsis
History will undoubtedly record the 20th Century as one of violence and technological warfare. But it will also record the achievements of thsoe men and woman who derived their power not from the weapons of great armies but from the weapons of truth and the human heart. Here are five such men and women whose lives prove that the might of the human spirit is powerful enough to change minds: MOTHER TERESA, who left a comfortable home in Albania to serve the poor and dying in the streets of Calcutta; ELEANOR ROOSEVELT, who had to overcome a painful lack of self-esteem before she could stand up to and alongside her powerful husband; HELEN KELLER, who lived one of the extraordinary lives of the century despite being trapped in the silent, dark world of the deaf, the mute and the blind; JACKIE ROBINSON, who survived racist attacks on and off the baseball field and changed more than just the complexion of the game; and DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., whose struggle to emancipate both whites and blacks in America cost him his life.
