Five Leaders Who Changed The World
Doc. Series & Series of Special
Synopsis
The history of the 20th century cannot be told without including the stories of the legendary figures whose singular visions compelled them to change the worlds not, necessarily always for the good. Here are five leaders who could not accept what they saw and risked everything for their beliefs: MAO TSE TUNG, who awakened a sleeping giant and transformed China into a repressive police state; MIKHAIL GORBACHEV, who never lost his commitment to build a socialist democracy in the Soviet Union; DAVID BEN GURION, who zealously fought for the idea of self-government, dedicating himself to establishing the state of Israel; NELSON MANDELA, who gave up 27 years of his life in prison but still kept alive his dream for majority rule in South Africa; and MOHANDAS GANDHI, who brought about the end of colonial rule in India with a revolution based on nonviolence and civil disobedience.
