LEGENDS, ICONS & SUPERSTARS

Five Pop Music Icons

Doc. Series & Series of Special

Synopsis

Music is part of our past and the artists who sing our music are sometimes closer to us than we imagine. They sing 'our' songs, songs we associate with a special person or a special time, songs that conjure up images and moments we cherish, songs of heartbreak and songs of unrestrained joy. Here are some of those songs and five of the pop music icons who, during the 20th century, have helped define our times and our lives; LOUIS ARMSTRONG, whose jazz trumpet and gravelly voice endeared him to millions; ELVIS PRESLEY, the kid from Tupelo, Mississippi, who became a rock 'n' roll sensation in the 1950s; MICHAEL JACKSON, whose artistry was evident from the very beginning when he performed with his family as part of the Jackson Five; THE BEATLES, the Fab four from Liverpool, who took us on a magical musical tour; and the Chairman of the Board - old blue-eyes, the Voice, FRANK SINATRA, whose career spanned six decades.
